Who is First Wave Endurance?
First Wave was founded in July, 2002 by a group of students in GCC’s Triathlon Training class. Since then we have grown both in numbers and organization. We decided to become a non-profit organization in October, 2003 and began our membership drive! Since that time we have grown in size and stature to be the premier triathlon club in the northwest valley.
In 2018, First Wave merged with the cycling group Project Fleming whereas Timothy Fleming became the club’s new President.
We provide support to team members as they race in local and regional events. We offer members the ability to travel to races in a group setting with team support.
Our focus is on bringing together triathletes in a fun, social, environment… while also offering challenging workouts. First Wave hosts a number of training sessions each month with a variety of workout types and locations to choose from. Most of our group training sessions are located conveniently for those who live in the Glendale, Peoria, North Phoenix, Vistancia, and other northwest valley vicinities.
We also provide various educational opportunities to our members including clinics, monthly meetings with guest speakers, and special training events. Please check our events calendar for more information. Plus we are well-supported by our club sponsors, who not only give us great technical support, but also significant discounts to club members. The cost of your membership is by far superseded by the value of discounts and services you receive!
FWEs’ mission is to support and encourage a fun and healthy approach to triathlons and endurance sports, and training for individuals of all ages and all levels of ability. Through the camaraderie of a club atmosphere, members enjoy training for the purpose of general fitness as well as personal and team goals. As a group the First Wave Endurance Club participates in, as well as promotes, fitness related events and activities throughout the Phoenix area.
